0528If you go to Marsa Matruh off-season (i.e. not in the summer months) the beaches are stunning and almost entirely deserted. It's also a great stop-off on the way to the Siwa oasis. The train is not recommended unless you really enjoy slow, old, trains with very little comfort. They're a far cry from the ones that run along the Nile.
