Located on the rim of a sunken volcano, Malabo is the capital of Equatorial Guinea. It is one of Africa's smallest capital cities. Malabo was founded by the British in 1827, who had leased it from Spain. The town is mainly known for oil, and the town is littered with oil rigs.
