Travel Tips from people who've been to Viljandi
The Viljandi Folk Music Festival is a music festival in Estonia with a central focus on European folk music. It is traditionally held in late July, when the otherwise quiet city of Viljandi is completely transformed as the small city center is suddenly flooded with people. The main attraction of the festival is the friendly atmosphere. In the year 2006, over 24,000 people attended the concerts, but many more just came to take part in the festivities. As such, it is the largest annual music festival in Estonia, and one of the largest folk music festivals in Europe.

A nice small city, but something that I found quite exciting was ruins of Viljandi castle and the hanging bridge. If I remember correctly, there's even a historic novel or two written by Eduard Bornhöhe which mention this place in Viljandi.

I believe I've been there several times, but it was way too long ago, so I won't mind another trip to Estonia's most interesting spots, and Viljandi would be one of my top choices.

Beautiful little Hanseatic town with lush gorges and green parks. The scenery makes this a real gem for travellers with an appreciation for the great outdoors.
