This is the scenic little capital of the tiny tiny and remote remote Faroe Islands.... the few flights that do go to the Faroe Islands (mostly from Denmark or Iceland) will invariably take you to the country's (well, its technically Danish territory) airport near Torshavn and you are almost certain to visit Torshavn if you visit the Faroe Islands... the city itself is lovely...calm, safe, compact... the majority of the population of Faroe Islands lives in Torshavn and people often don't lock houses or doors here... children play freely outside and when a non-Scandinavian tourist visits, its a bit of an event... there are lovely bars, cafes, concerts and excursions available... take the puffin watching one amidst scenic cliffs ... especially the one with an almost historic person (forget his name) running it...he's famous for these and its worth it... and if you are lucky you will meet his daughter (or assistant, I am not sure) who books you into the trip... she has the deepest deepest blue eyes I have ever seen... unbelievably so... almost a deep electric blue in which you can already sea miles of the beautiful sea that you are about to navigate...

Brought my bike here and drove like crazy in the rain and wind....believe me I paddled 10 times to get ahead 1 meter after 1 meter...a monster wind....and for some reason when I decided to go home to the Hotel the wind changed to go against me again. I still loved every minute of my trip there. Beautiful scenery and VERY VERY Nice people here. This is an island to go with family and for camping. Very friendly for families with smaller chilren. Take boat trips there, rent bikes, and hike up the hill for a great view of the cure little City. Food here is very good...very fresh fish and expensive beer. LOVED IT HERE.
