Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland
You have to visit Suomenlinna!!
Porvoo, Southern Finland, Finland
Gather mushrooms while you are stickwalking in the hilly forrests around town. Once the snow has arrived, go to the pubs with some locals and discover Finnish madness at night
Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland
Ladies! When on the streets at night, please be with a group. There are no real dangers, but lots of drunken men, so keep a watchful eye out for them!
Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland
If you're looking for a decent and not-too-expensive hostel, I can recommend the Stadium Hostel, which is located in the Olympic Stadium (across the road where the Opera House is located). It's not too expensive, the rooms are nice and clean and security is good.
Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland
Helsinki's Stockmann, Aleksanterinkatu, Boulevardi ad Esplanadi are musts if you love shopping, window Shopping and Design... treat yourself with a good stroll on the Main Venues and then ahve a break at the Fazer Cafè in Kluuvikatu! It is worth it!!
Rajamaki, Southern Finland, Finland
There's not much out here! But if you're visiting Nurmijarvi and want a cheap and nice place to stay, there's lots of opportunities. In Haukilampi there's a few hostels (~2km from Rajamaki, ~10km from Nurmijarvi) next to a lake. If you're on
this area and don't have a place to stay, even with a large group you can almost certainly find a place here.
Nurmijarvi, Southern Finland, Finland
If you're on the area, visit Nurmijarvi. A pretty famous finnish author Aleksis Kivi lived here and you can see the house he used to live in (I'm not sure if you can go in, though). In the summer there's a fest here called Kivijuhlat. If
you want to learn about finnish customs and culture, that's the place to go. You can even see the Prime Minister of Finland there, who is from Nurmijarvi!
Also if you want to visit Helsinki but think the hotels are too expensive, you can probably find a cheaper one here even with a short notice. Nurmijarvi is about 50km southwest from Helsinki, which is about an hour of driving. Easiest way to come here is to take a bus from Helsinki.
Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland
Kiasma Museum is a must...as a visit to the Kansallismuseo too. Thay are both in Mannerheimentie, not too far from each other... a pleasant walk in Summer next to the Töölö Lahti...or a charming Winter Walk when it is cold and showy!!
Porvoo, Southern Finland, Finland
Porvoo is a very cute village to the est of Helsinki. It's possible to take a bus from Helsinki to go there. This village was built on the map of the medieval village so street are small and turned a lot. Wooden house with different color and the place, in the side of a river, are given a charmed to his place. A lot of shop but every think is very expensif.
