Travel Tips from people who've been to Alsace
if you want to eat something very good, go to LITTLE FRANCE area! Good tip? (+3) Colmar is a small town, a bit out of the way for many travelers. But don't let that discourage you. In fact, the small town charm is present from start to finish. You can walk the town courtesy of a walking guide in about two hours.
If you are into medieval art, stop by the Unterlinden Museum. There are medieval frescos and alter pieces from centuries ago when art was part and parcel of religion. And if the museum is not enough, pay attention to the two massive churches. There is also Petite Venise, a mini canal and river that runs through part of the city to form an homage to Venice. The Old Customs House and St Matthieu complete the old architectural tour.
The fare is typical Alscatian - tarte flambees. Good tip? (+1) This lovely town is ideal for an easygoing walk, combined with shopping. The old houses are marvellous! The people there are very friendly and it's a warm atmosphere. Don't forget to eat crepes and all the other great food they sell in the restaurants and at take away stands on the street! Good tip?
