Traveling with Children in Aquitaine
Biarritz, Aquitaine, France
Here's the story I was told about Biarritz by our French bus driver back in 2000. Some French teens went to the US as exchange students in the late 1950's,early '60s to California and took up the art/sport of surfing...Now there are Surf shops in Biarritz amongst the expensive seaside homes and American kids get a kick seeing people in their 60s surfing the Atlantic ocean off of Biarritz. :)

Gay/Lesbian Travelers in Aquitaine
Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France
Bordeaux is a very nice town, I lived there for six months.
If you like to go out and like latin music, check out the Calle Ocho in the Rue du Loup. It's quite small and hot, but the atmosphere is amazing! For just grabbing a pint, I really enjoyed the Houses of Parliament, an English pub in the rue du parlement.
The rue Ste-Catherine is Bordeaux' shopping street and is the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe. If you don't find what you're looking for there, you won't find it anywhere.
A very nice calm place to sit and enjoy the surroundings is at the hôtel de ville, and also the place Gambetta.
The city has a lot of public transport (trams busses), but most things are within walking range.
