Have a craving for pizza in Blois? Right next to the Chateau is a very lively Italian restaurant with good Italian food and excellent pizzas; the place is called Le Duc de Guise, after the Catholic Duke who was murdered in the chateau by order of the French Protestant King. Think it is sacrilige to eat Italian food in France? Remember both Catherine and Maria di Medici came here with Italian cooks and bakers who influenced French cooking. Also, Leonardo da Vince lived here for several years and died here as well. Eat Italian as you contemplate the Italian connections.

When you visit the chateau in the centre of the town, take a look from the square before the entrance to the opposite side.  You can see the house of Houdini which is also nice to go to.  At different times troughout the day, you can see the iron dragons coming out of the front windows, accompanied of music.

Blois is a must when you visit the Loire Castles... They won't le you in with a bag or camera. The castle is nice, the staff at the castle is rather unfriendly!
