Travel Tips from people who've been to Troyes
if at all possible when visiting france, visit someone french. i have been to france with american and i have been to france with an actual parisian. hands down, no contest, go with a local. they'll show the real hot spots, introduce you to more people and give you inside experiences you'll never get yaking away on the sidewalk in loud american accents. for troyes (ps: dont call it "tro-yes," troy's.") avoid the crazy shopping and stick to the beautiful side streets peppered with sidewalk cafes. overall, its beautifully preserved and charming.

Hey, we stayed in Troyes in the La Maison de Rhodes: http://www.maisonderhodes.com/ It looks fabulous and is also fabulous and you pay for it ! We stayed at the Prieuré room for 140 euro and had to pay for breakfast 14 euro, it was al nice, but 14 euro was a lot for breakfast, since we didn't get too much. Nice city though, wel worth visiting. Salu

Hidden away in the tiny streets of the old city there is an extremely interesting museum of tools. Maison de L'Outil et de la Pensee Ouvriere has a large collection of now obsolete hand tools from a large range of trades. A must for anyone even slightly interested in how everyday things were accomplished in former times.
