Travel Tips from people who've been to Neuilly-sur-Seine
Located between Paris and La Defence. I lived in Neully-sur-Seine for two years and loved it. It is very close to the Champs Elysee and has plenty of parks, churches and specialty shops. I highly recommend the cheese shop and bakery there. The markets on Tuesday and Thurday mornings sell fresh fruit, veg, cheese, fish and some clothing and lingerie and they are located right near the Neuilly Metro station. There is a small supermarket in Neuilly if you want to save some money. There are three elite suburbs in Paris where the local gentry live; Auteill, Neuilly and Passy, hence they are referred to as NAPs... there is a french rap song that sends up NAPs. This area is great for people watching... plenty of mutton dressed as lamb walking their well-groomed poodles (caniche) and it just goes to show that money cannot buy good taste.... but mostly very elegant folk abound. Along Avenue du Roule is a church with a palm tree (they take great care of that palm tree - wrapping it up in winter so it doesn't freeze). Forget visiting Paris in the summer when the tourist invasion is in full force... see it in spring or winter... it is enormously charming. Don't forget it is only chic to wear white shoes in the summer and your fur coat from mid-spring and in the winter... (the French actually have specific dates of when certain fashion items are allowed) otherwise you will not be elegant. During the day in the parks most of the women looking after children are the nannies, not the mothers.
