Travel Tips from people who've been to Sarrebourg
Sarrebourg: It is a border town, typical from this part of our country. Understand: a garrison town. That's where the 1er Régiment d'Infanterie is accomodated. So there is a lot of affordable restaurants and quite lively bars, where off-duty soldiers are swapping news about such or such, away in oversea deployment or in a CEC training session. In the morning, all year long, platoons with t-shirts at the colours of such or such company can be seen running in the countryside. A lot of animation. There is, too, a church decorated by the artist Marc Chagal. The pride of the town one would say. In the surroundings, easily accessible by coach or by train, there is the impressive medieval tower of Lutzelbourg, in the past the hunting ground of the Regiment's combat engineering company's 2nd platoon, standing on a rock above the village. I could talk hours about sarrebourg and its surrounding. For it's talking about youth, and about ghosts.
