This region is located north east of Paris, with its main city, Lille, 220 about km away.  It is a plain (Flandre - of John McCrae's poem "In Flander's Fields") with access to the North Sea.  A former mine region, it is famous because of its strategic position during WW I and WW II, and is a place of memory for war veterans.

Wissant, c'est un bon village avec un très bon terrain de camping. Wissant est près de calais et à la plage. Avec une bonne vue, vous pouvez vue les falaises de dover !

Boulogne-sur-Mer has a very nice youth hostel. The bars aren't that good, but with some booze, you can have a lot of fun at the beach at night.
