The heart of Nice beats in the Cours Saleya. The daily morning flower market offers much more than just cut flowers. Plants, cacti, fresh fruit, vegetables, delicatessen, bread, olives, socca, traditional glaced fruits, and on Mondays the flowers give way to antiques. Many tourists of course pass through here - you will hear a lot of English and Italian spoken - but also this is where the Nicios also like to come and do their daily shopping. The fruit is from heaven - sugar-sweet clementines from Corsica, figs and grapes from Provence, exotic Kaki-fruit, lychee, or simple apples bursting with flavour. If its a bit touristy don't assume everything is marked up for tourists - it is terrific value and little different from the supermarket - only better quality. You will also be introduced to the novelty of French pricing. For no discernable reason there will be wide differences in prices for the same fruit between different stalls. You will also discover the difference between the flavour of fruit picked a few days previously in Provence, and the flavour of fruit which has spent the last month chilled in a distribution warehouse waiting for delivery to your home supermarket. Lined with restaurants and brasseries, the Cours is a great place to sit with a beer or coffee and people watch. Terrific atmosphere that is so magnetic everyone passes through here just for the sheer buzz.

Nice was awesome!! Great atmosphere, nowhere else in Europe did I see people sunbaking naked in the middle winter. Its a great place to escape from a harsh European winter. Great party place, beautiful scenery- however, dont walk around the streets at night by yourself.

There is a Viewpoint in Nice, the most people walk up to the top, but there is a Elevator inside the mountain it costs you 1 euro! Nice View!

Nice city, but rather small. You don't need a week to see the entire city. Apart from the old town, which is quaint and where you can find good restaurants (you should definitely try the local speciality farçis: grilled vegetables stuffed with tuna salad), there's mostly just the beach. But as you're there anyway, you can take the sncf train to nearby places which are all beautiful: Menton, Villefranche, Cannes, Monaco, Saint Tropez even: all most typically southern French. Relaxed people!!!

One of Nice's best kept secrets is La Colombe d'Or restaurant. Up in the hills about 19km west of Nice, you'll need a car to get to the small village of St. Paul de Vence. La Colombe d'Or is a South of France cultural institution; a truly French dining experience. There is a six-month waiting list for a dinner reservation, but you might get lucky at lunchtime. Paradise on earth! This sea-side part of the city of Cagnes-sur-Mer is my favourite. Take a walk along the promenade all the way from hippodrome to the port of Saint-Laurent and you will pass by many nice restaurants, bars and cafés. If you are out early you can get a fresh fish at the market stands in the harbour. Just opposite the little church on the promenade is my favourite beach spot. A perfect small lively but not too hectic summer city.

do some snorkelling and see the lil fishies that are swimming beside you!!

Don't limit yourself to only Nice. Travel to Ville Franche (a small Italian fishing village), Eze (a medieval town), or Monaco is only a couple Euros and short bus ride away.

Enjoy a fish specialty in a beautiful natural harbor.

Lovely beaches (no braws, like all over Europe) , everyone is crossing streets on red lights, you can do it too, but be aware of the traffic nevertheless. A short train ride to Monaco and Kann, you should visit those places too if you are near the region ...
