It is worth spending time in Annecy, walking the coble stone streets, window shopping, dining in a restaurant along the canal and swimming in a pristine lake surrounded by pink mountains at sunset. Driving around the lake and hiking  in the area are recommended. One of the best restaurant in France, l' auberge du Pere Bise, is in Talloires, less than 20 minutes away.

Travel Tips from people who've been to Annecy
This place is a MUST  for anyone traveling Europe, but be prepared to bundle up when you go!  I visited in mid-June, and  had on a big warm hat, two layers of clothes, and a big leather jacket, and I was still cold!  The river flowing through the center of town had chunks of ice floating in it, and it was so beautiful to watch as I strolled along the streets.  The food was equally as enjoyable, as the little bistros served a menu that aimed to appease even the most delicate of palates. But by far the most wonderful part of all was the ride up the mountain, alongside a glacier, to the top of Mont Blanc itself.  Traveling through the clouds to the 12,000 foot summit of a neighboring peak was exhilerating to say the least, but the real treat was walking through the ice cave to reach the viewing area.   Expect this town to set you back a bit, though.  I would estimate a family of four to spend about $500 for the day touring this village, between admission to the mountain top, souveniers, and two meals for the bunch.   It's a quaint little town, with old, picturesque houses and shops, a nice river with

In Annecy, you can say that it's a paradise.. the view is formidable, even in winter. People say that it's perfect to be there, because in winter you have mountains to do the ski-thing and in summer you have the lake to swim in.
I suggest you to restaurant not so close from the canals, because it will cost you a fortune. But there's an ice cream shop close to the bridge just near to Palais de l'Ile which has a very delicious choice of ice cream. :)

The best local market is on Sunday mornings. If you're there you have to go.
It's in Old town. starts by the old prison.
