Travel Tips from people who've been to Grenoble
Well, this is my home town so of course I love it! ^_^
It is hot in summer and cold in winter and has 4 different seasons with different good points for each. I would recommend to go there in May or June as it is not yet as hot as in July or August but still with lots of sun. Visit the "bastille" on the top of the city but taking the "bulles" and coming down walking. It will take the afternoon but well worth it. you have views over the city and the journey down is being surrounded by trees and nature.
If you are not into nature, the centre of the town has loads of shops and old houses to have a look at. Find the house of Stendhal when he was a boy. It is in a small square with places for the kids to play and places to relax in the sun. While you should not walk on the grass, duinrg spring and summer, you can lie on it and sun bathe ^_^
Finally, the ski stations! Grenoble is the door to the mountains and you can go where you want and to whatever station you like: family, with the full range of sloughts or just 1/2 hour from Grenoble.
The university means that there are a lot of parties and a young atmosphere in the city.
Well worth a visit Good tip? (0) Take your climbing harness with you. There is nothing better in Grenoble in sommertime then climbing from nearby Jardin de la Dauphine to La Bastille in the sunset, and take a glass of cold beer on the top. There is a steel rope along the route, and all one needs beside the harness is some sort of climbing shoes (I've seen only people in trainers there) and two of those quickdraw-like things to attach yourself to the safety steel rope. Enjoy! Good tip? Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for Grenoble
