About Rhone-Alpes Planning a Trip to Rhone-Alpes
Valence, Rhone-Alpes, France For a spontaneous adventure, I decided to visit Valence, France for the day. I had never been to this city before and figured it would be mediocre. However, I was quite surprised by this luscious city! It is definitely a best kept secret in France. From the train station, you can walk directly to the Parc Jouvet and walk around a breath taking park that is full of magnificent plants and landscapes. Champs of Mars is enchanting and this city has several monuments and statues that pay respect to the French Military. It also is a city full of glorious fountains and offers plenty of Kodak moments. It is clean and also has many shops if you get tired of being in nature. If you have the time, it is definitely worth checking out! Good tip? (0) Vaujany, Rhone-Alpes, France STIEFSPUB , rhumerie, cocktails, belgium beers, internet , tv sports ... open winter / summer 7/7 Good tip? (0) Sisteron, Rhone-Alpes, France This little stop, right between France and Italy, was a quaint little town worth checking out, if not for the classic European village , but for the great crepes I had there. Now I can't remember the name of the cafe, but let's just say it shouldn't be to hard to find! I took many photos of this place, just because it was so picturesque. Good tip? (0) Grenoble, Rhone-Alpes, France Musee de la Resistance is an impressive museum dedicated to World War II. It has a vast collection of artifacts, photos, and descriptions associated with the events of this horrific war. It is only 0.3 miles from the city center and it is FREE. If you get a chance to visit Grenoble, check this place out. Good tip? (0) Lyon, Rhone-Alpes, France Sadly, as most tourist pass through Lyon, on their way from/to Paris, this beautiful town does not get the credit it deserves... But maybe that is also part of its authenticity as it is not as crammed with tourists... The old town, the roman ruins, the huge Basilica perched atop the hill, the lively center, the intriguing "traboules" (tunnels through the blocks linking the old streets through superb medieval courtyards) are enough to spend a couple of days in the town. What's more, some districts like The slopes are full of nooks and crannies where you can discover some alternative places which are a lot of fun to hang out at (boardgame cafes, chicha places...) and to be remembered : Lyon is the capital of gastronomy. In my eyes, one of 5 stops that must not be missed in France... Paris is beautiful but it is not France, more like a tourist living museum. Lyon is much more representative of France. Good tip? (+2) Lyon, Rhone-Alpes, France Go to the old city up on the hill, visit the old cathedral, admire the buildings that still have wooden hooks under the rafters that were used in silkmaking back in the day, walk the cobblestones and admire the view of the city and river. Good tip? (+1) Ruoms, Rhone-Alpes, France Le confluent : camping fabuleux dans l'Ardèche profonde. Good tip? (0) Saint-Etienne, Rhone-Alpes, France Be careful that you are not wearing a Lyon football top, local do not take too well to it
