The metro in Lyon does not have a conductor. If you get on the first cart to the front you will experience the trip as if you were driving the thing ;-)

Train stops here. Connections to ski resorts is done by bus then (very expensive). Hitch-hiking is cheaper and more sucessful during high season. If you stay in the surrounding ski resorts, Bourg-St-Maurice is the best place to run your errands or make your food shopping, on the resort it is at least 20% more expensive (up to 200% on some items)

Amazingly cheap and easy to, and if you like your mountains its a must. Fly to Geneva then you can picked up by this neat little company called Chamexpress which take you right to where your staying anywhere around Chamonix

well, the best and the most romantic accessible to all transport to Yvoire is by boat! You can take the boat from Geneva, Versoix or Rolle and have a great sailing with a glass of wine in your hand :-)
