Travel Tips from people who've been to Le Havre
Easiest thing to do in the world is makes friends with Dutch people... hi Paula! It is probably best to get a local to show you around and explain the history... plenty of funny little stories about the locals are waiting to be shared. The Haig is a bit more suburban and conservative and many young people hop on the train to Amsterdam for the night life. On our return to the Haig we, about 6 women, crashed at Paula's brother's apartment and when he returned from a friend's bucks night at 5am he didn't mind at all we had taken over his place... he just pulled up a cushion up on the floor and went to sleep. Dutch women are used to just having many male friends... very low sleaze factor there. Friendly! Good tip? (0) Le Havre is a nice little town which is often just used as a pass through town or simply somewhere good to pick up cheap alcohol. However, you can spent a nice little night walking through the town going to quite good restaurants. Then before leaving you can go to different supermarkets and pick-up cheap bottles of wine, beer and food. Good tip? (0) You must absolutely cross the Pont de Normandie. The town of Le Havre isn't very beautiful but the bridge the more! It's the longest in Europe and with it's fine strings all over, it looks really really great. Take enough money with you, it's pretty expensive to buy something to drink or eat just in front of the bridge. Good tip? (0)
