ADD TO LIST
Gabon is a birdwatcher and nature lover’s dream. Considered by some to be one of the best places in the world for birdwatching, vast tracks of unspoiled rainforests have been set aside in one of the largest preservation efforts in the world. Within the forests and national parks lie chimpanzees, gorillas, and even the Sun-tailed Gueonon – an endemic fruit eating primate found only in the Birougou National Park. Along the coast are also numerous national parks, including Akanda National Park, located near the capital, Libreville, with its mangrove and tidal beach habitats. It is the stopover point for large populations of migratory birds and an important feeding area for turtles. Further along the coast, Mayumba national Park is also a nesting area for turtles and an important marine habitat for dolphins, sharks and humpback whales. Go to Loango National Park, to see a typical African Lagoon system – it is only one of two in Africa that are protected. For pristine wilderness and colourful local culture, music and dance, Gabon should be high on the list.

Travel Tips from people who've been to Gabon
Good tip? (0) The main street of the village is also the landing strip for the small airplanes. Expect all sorts of pilots challenges when you land there . Like passing by trucks and jeeps; pedestrians crossings ; wild animals , dogs , goats, . Watch for those big timber logs on the beach just at the threshold of the runway. Good tip? (0) If in Libreville, go and visit the association Ebando, located opposite from the Airport, at la Sablière.
Its an association that tries to protect Gabonese traditionnal Bwiti Culture...
Can't go to Gabon without learning about Bwiti !
