Perhaps the most notable, and worldwide famous thing about Friedrichshafen is that it the location where count von Zeppelin constructed the first Zeppelin. There is a museum in the city to honour that achievement and it is well worth the visit.

Other main reason why Friedrichshafen is well worth the visit is the Bodensee, and the natural beauties surrounding the city and the lake. If you decide to make a trip around the island interesting thing is that you will change 4 states. Germany, Austira, Lichtenstein and Switzerland. The 'round trip' is also doable by bicycle although you will have to take a few days for it, but that will enable you to sightsee many interesting towns and locations around the way (konstanz especially).
