People in Baden-Wurttemberg Region
Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
This is my home away from home. It is also the home to the some of the coolest people around, most of them who reside in a wee Dorf called Oeffingen and many of whom represent the TV Oeffingen Tennis Mannschaft. So if you wanna know what real Germany is about--go to Stuggi

Bretten, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
Visit Bretten for the Peter and Paul festival. Its a bit of a scam to have to pay entry fee but if you dress up in medieval clothes or go early, entry is free (before they can charge you). This weekend always starts the Friday before Pentecost and runs for three days. There is great food, music, guns, mock battles and people who deck themselves out in costume. A real lively atmosphere and the program is so full its hard to see everything and not get tried feet.

Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
Famous for its large renaissance castle overlooking the town and the Rhine. Many people rave about it, personally I have been twice and it has never really grabbed me. Yes it is pleasantly situated, but its alleged importance is greater than its physical appeal - there are far more beautiful castles and towns in Germany.

Baden-Wurttemberg Region Culture
Baden-Baden, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
Baden-Baden is off the beaten path. Between the wonderous mountains, the quaint cobblestone streets and the beautifully manicured gardens, here you will find a culture that has blossomed since the time of the Romans.

The name means literally 'bath-bath,' and that is not meerely by chance. The baths are a wonderful way to relax after reaching the peak of the nearby hills, from which you can see for ages into southern France and northern Switzerland. Or stop by the magnificent casino; better bring your tux, Mr. Bond!

My favorite castle in the local area is here, if your bringing family that can't walk really well, might as well save your time and find another more accessable one, there are alot of stairs to get there, and the other option is an off camber coblestone walk up or down.

Worth it if your stationed in Germany to show the American's some of the college culture in Germany as well, Aka, Nightlife...

Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
Charmingly situated in the heart of one of Germany's largest wine-growing regions, this vibrant metropolis fascinates visitors from all over the world. The state capital of Baden-Württemberg delights tourists not only by virtue of its magnificent panorama, its impressive gardens and parks, its fine squares, splendid palaces and buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, but also by its cultural diversity.

Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
This city is so amazing to live in. It's location makes it a great place to be able to set up camp and venture out to other places during the day. There is a strong US Military presents here with multiple barracks close by. The castle, culture and university can fill your day nicely. Although you have to pay to use the WC at the castle is it's only downfall. I never liked having to pay to go! Transportation to and from Heidelberg is so easy to do.

Why vistit Stuttgart?
Good restaurants, superb local wineries, a hearty dose of culture, beer festivals, art galleries and some beautiful parks, Stuttgart has all the elements of a big city destination. Couple that with friendly locals who accommodate your poor attempt at German, mouthwatering Swabian cuisine and the Mercedez-Benz Museum, and Stuttgart could easily become your favourite German destination.
When vistit Stuttgart?
Stuttgart can get swelteringly hot in summer and bitterly cold in winter, so the best time to visit is between seasons, in autumn or spring. At the end of August and during the month of September visitors can join the fun at the Wine Village Festival, tasting over 200 different wines or enjoy music and merrymaking at the Cannstatt Beer Festival, the second largest beer festival after Munich's Oktoberfest. The city shimmers in springtime, as do the parks and surrounding vineyards, who play host to a plethora of different festivals.

Who for vistit Stuttgart ?
From groovy nightclubs and exceptional opera to fine dining and organic markets, no matter what your age or interest, there is most certainly something to interest you in Stuttgart. Families can be swept up in the open spaces and thoroughly entertained at the planetarium and Wilhelma Zoo and for car enthusiasts the Porsche and Mercedes-Benz museums never cease to satisfy.

Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
I think Stuttgart is not as big as i thought it was but it's a nice city to live for a while. There's a shopping street like everywhere on Koenig Strasse and there's a staatgallerie if you like paintings and if you like classical music, stuttgart has a good reputation for that. One thing you have to be careful is if it's getting late, there will be less train for you and especially on weekend so plan your trip well !

Blankenloch, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
Blankenloch is a small town north of the main center Karlsruhe. It is possible to use the trams to get there or using bikes or even run. Its only about 10-15 km away. Once you arrive there are a few restaurants which are typical of most places, Italian, kebabs, a couple of pubs with German food and bakeries. I visited friends who lived there and passed through when on cycle tours. There are also nearby lakes which are free access for swimming in summer.

Baden-Baden, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
A small thermal pools has been the attraction of people to this city for over two thousand years. The Caracalla baths are excellent. Today Baden-Baden is the home of the rich and retired. Some great hikes around the city in summer and fresh air because it is in the northern part of the Black Forest.

Gaggenau, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
Gaggenau lies at the base of the Muhltal in the northern part of the Black Forest. There are some nice hiking tracks which can be used to get to some of the surrounding places like Gernsbach, Baden-Baden and Rastatt. A Mercedes-Benz factory is situated here as well.

Hinterzarten, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany
A small city up high in the Black Forest. The Ski jumper Sven Hannawald has a house here and the place sometimes resembles a pension town. There are numerous hikes in the summer and Feldberg is also close by. During the winter when the snows are heavy being at about 900 m high cross country skiing is also available.
