This base has a lot of history because the German Panzer tanks were from this base during World War II. The streets are still cobblestone and still bear the treadwear from the tanks.

An extremely beautiful old village and monastery now used for exhibitions and concerts. The surroundings are breathtaking.

The Crepes Cart roves around the town of Tubingen (about 20 miles south of Stuttgart on Route 27) every day in the evenings. I have to say that on a cold winter night, with snow flakes falling, surrounded by 400 year..

Tubingen is a small town situated near Stuttgart, famous for the Mercedes-Benz factory. Tubingen is well known around the world as the "student town". In fact, more than 20.000 students are studying on colleges in this cute little town. The town is also known for its "Universitaatsklink", the largest university hospital in germany, specialized for urology. The finest world experts in urology teach and operate in that hospital. Besides the hospital, it features beautiful restaurants and "caffeterie" owned by Italians who live in Germany. It's great for italian tourists as everybody speaks their language. The town is placed over two rivers so it's full of beautiful riverside walkways, cafes and restaurants.

A beautiful old town on the river Neckar. A great place to stop for a beer. A very young feeling place with its many students. If the weather is good, hire a boat for great views of the old houses by the river.

Tübingen is probably one of the most beautiful places in Baden-Württemberg. There are great places to eat which serve local cuisine (Mauganeschtle and Wurstküche would be the high profile ones, Lichtenstein is more affordable) and cosy pubs for evenings and nights (my personal favourite is Schlosscafé). For sightseeing there's the famous townhall, the castle, Hölderlinturm, the Stiftskirche, the botanic gardens, the Kunsthalle, the Stift and just loads of beautiful old buildings (some timbered, some stone). Make sure you visit on a nice day and have time enough to enjoy the atmosphere!

Tübingen is a lovely university town, so depending on what you're looking for in Germany, it's a lovely town to visit, though if you're staying in Germany for a year abroad, I recommend a larger town (like Freiburg im Breisgau) for more nightlife, music and overall socializing opportunities. Getting around by bus is quite easy and there are night buses that run until 3am on the weekends. =)

Great small town South of Stuttgart. This is quintessential small town Germany. The best place is the hotel/restaurant Loewen which has fantastic choices of food, which vary from season to season - pork, venison, steak, great salads and Speck (a lard and bacon spread)!!!! Don't miss it.
