Aschaffenburg Travel Guide

My German home town.  I lived here for 2 years and loved it!!!! It is a picture perfect postcard kind of a town. It has a castle, a park with a manor, a beautiful park downtown that in the spring is in full bloom with beautiful bright pink magnolia trees and looks like something out of a fairytale.  This town is also in Bayern or Bavaria to us Americans so they do celebrate Oktoberfest and it is a ton of fun.  They have a great Weihnacten or Christmas bazar at the castle as well as other great bazars throughout the year.  The carnivals are awesome and the food even better.  There are so many great places to eat in Aschaffenburg (maybe that's why I gained so much weight in Germany or was it the beer).  Every town has there own local brew and Aschaffenburgs was great.  They have one of the few indoor malls in Europe and it is pretty great let me tell you great shopping and you can even bring you dog along.  You haven't laughed until you've seen a Great Dane on an escalator and an elevator!!!! The night life is great the clubs are awesome the cafe's are the best. There are many places to get great gelato.  The shopping is first rate. You can walk everywhere!! Check out the Kebab stand nearest the exit from the park to the downtown shopping area. The hospital is great I've been there with severe dehydration. Overall I can't say enough great things about this town maybe I am biased but I have nothing bad to say about Aschaffenburg if I had the means I would buy a second house here and visit often I love it!!!! It snows at Christmas and is beautiful in the the Summertime.  It is perfect clean and it's locals are friendly and consist of a lot of US military retirees!!! GO THERE ASAP!!!

Little pubs and bars downtown are worth a trip!
