I found that the best way to get to know Passau is to just take a walk from the train station all the way down to the end of the triangle, while making sure to take in the major sights (like the church organ that you have to see to believe). Passau is manageable in one day, even while taking the time to enjoy the incredible views across the river.

Well, not native, but students: Hang out on "Nikolawiese" (lawn in front of Nikolakloster). Bathe in the sun or have a barbecue and cool your drinks in the river.
