Monchengladbach is definitely worth a stop. Visit the football stadium; have a look in the beautiful cathedral. There are often concerts in the park on Sunday morning. There is also some fine art to be found in the municipal museum Schloss Rheydt.

"Vita" - Italian Restuarant at Schloß Rheydt (Rheydt Castle). Nice atmosphere, reasonable prices. Can get pretty busy, might be good to make a reservation.
