if you come to Dusseldorf you should go for sure to "königsallee" or short "kö" the most famous street, there where the rich famous people go for shopping.

For nightlife for sure, either Kö or Old town with Bolkestraße, there are all the restaurants, pubs, bars, clubs...

There are quite a few areas and places where you can party.
Altstadt is mainly for tourists. If you want to get drunk fast with fellow travellers you are most likely to meet them there. Peters Brauhaus provides good food and not so good beer, the Paeffgen Brauhaus vice versa.
Kwartier Lateng (Zulpicher Straße) is for students and young persons who want to drink and have a good time. Party and concerts also in the Prime Club/Luxor, the Blue Shell and the mtc.
Friesenviertel is for the more well-to-do people. Make sure to check out the Paeff (not to confuse with the Paeffgen !). Often there are quite good DJs at work.
Ehrenfeld is for students and more alternative folk. Lots of nice pubs, bars, clubs and more. The Underground, the Live Music Hall (rock, alternative), the Sensor Club (dance), the Art Theater (funk, Drum'n'Bass), the Sonic Ballroom (punk, indie) are must-sees when you are in Ehrenfeld.

Besides that there are a few cool clubs and classic bars. Schreckenskammer and Elektra in Altstadt-Nord, Gebäude 9 in Deutz, Westbahnhof, Tor 2 right next to the central station, Apropo in the Severinsviertel,.....

Nordrhein-Westfalen Region Culture
Koln, Nordrhein-Westfalen Region, Germany
I was in Koln five years ago and it was the most memorable time. I lived there for three months and you never ever ever ever get bored, there is so much to do, so much turkish, indian, chinese culture that mixes with the local food. Loved the festivals and partys (E-Werk and more), the cheap shops in Mulheim, the downtown 2 shopping streets, the clever museums. A MUST

In Cologne, there are many oppotunities to spending a nice and cultural time.

I love to go dancing in the "Stadgarten" when there is one of theire famous balkan parties. It´s called "Kopmpoott.

Certainly, the dom of cologne is an attraction that you may not miss.

In the summer you can rest in one of the parks inside the city: Volksgarten, Aachener Weiher, Blücherpark

Anyway, you will find something that fits on you.

Duisburg, Nordrhein-Westfalen Region, Germany

Krefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen Region, Germany
Koenigsburg Krefeld, Meilenstein, Kufa are the top 3 clubs in Krefeld in the city center. open weekends from around 10pm til 5am. just ask anybody there, they will know where all these clubs are! easy to get to and a lot of fun! Koenigsburg and Meilenstein are more expensive than Kufa and Kufa is the only place where they play all kinds of music like rock, indie, house, rnb etc...

Nice student town with many shopping possibilities and one very spectacular skateshop (TITUS). Rent a bike at the rail station, go for sailing or rowing on the lake, go out to Cuba Nova in the night. More information about going out: www.nadann.de

Two things you must do:

Go up the Köln Cathedral tower. It's a long hike, but you can use the exercise I am sure.

Go to the Ludwig museum! If you love modern art, you'll see quite a few treats.

If you like drinking beer out of huge pints then you should go to the "Octoberfesten" in Köln or in Munchen. You also can visit the "Dom", the biggest church there. Or if you like football (soccer for the americans) you have their team FC Köln or a little bit further you have Bayer Leverkusen.

Dusseldorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen Region, Germany
ok, for every sane individual who finds themselves in Dusseldorf, there's 4 or 5 newbies who end up blowing all their wages in one night. Believe me, I know... my advise - try not to be too drunk till you get a feel for the place. Like any large city, keep your friends close and your enemies closer... if you do however find yourself in some crap, "Stop, Drop n Roll" seems to work best. If you still get covered in lava, it's god's way of sayin "You really shouldn't have gone to Germany..."
