Trier History

Beautiful city with a history. Must take the guided city tour to see the city. Also in december you must go the christmas market.

When you go to the towm of Trier, plan ahead and make sure you have plenty of time. The most efficient way to see everything is by walking, which may take a while. While you're there, don't forget to visit the baths and the gladiator arena. Other than that, just walk around. There is a lot of interesting history in the town of Trier.

Have you eve wondered where all of the Woolworths store went? Well maybe not but there is one in Trier Germany. I could not belive that it was there when I happened onto it. Trier is loaded with history, and some is pretty interesting. There an old Steepled Church there that has a couple of gashes on the doors..rumor has it that they were put there by a werewolf. Wear comfortable shoes because there are cobbled streets everywhere.

For fans of history architecture, visit the Porta Nigra...the Gateway to Trier's old city center. One of the oldest Roman structures north of the Alps, it marks 2000 years in central Europe. It is worth the time to climb the steps to the top where you will be rewarded with 360 degree views of the area...including cathedrals, the Mosel River, wine fields and the beautiful Hauptmarkt.
