Travel Tips from people who've been to Saxony-Anhalt Region
The town Dessau-Roßlau and the surrounding area is a wonderful destination for lovers of culture and nature. Between Dessau-Roßlau and the city of Wittenberg visitors will find four UNESCO world heritage sites that are so close to another which is unique in Germany. The Bauhaus the Masters’ Houses and the Garden Realm Dessau-Wörlitz belong to UNESCO world heritage as well as the sites of Martin Luther in Wittenberg. The whole landscape – dominated by meadows and forests on the Rivers Elbe and Mulde was put under protection as the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve “Mittelelbe”.Whereas Dessau became famous as the Bauhaus-city, Roßlau was regarded as a shiptown. The water castle of the 12th century and buildings in the classical style by the architect Bandauer belong to the most important monuments in Roßlau. The history of Dessau is connected with many great personalities. Kurt Weill, Wilhelm Müller and Moses Mendelssohn were born here. The Technical Museum reminds of the work of the famous aviation engineer Hugo Junkers.
There are far more things to discover such as the treasures of museums and galleries, the Anhalt Theatre and various leisure activities.

just a very lovely old german town...
stayed in the youth hostel next to the schlosskirche (castle church), which is very new and huge...rooms are quite okay, but I missed the personality, it was quite impersonal, but therefore just as an hotel...food was quite okay there, esp the people working there were very nice and friendly...
and the town itself is really worth a visit- esp if you´re a protestant as you can see the working places and so on of reformator Martin Luther everywhere (the city lives from that)

Why would anyone go to a place called like this? Well, it's because of Ferropolis - the city of iron. If you ever happen to be around there go and visit Ferropolis, it's really impressive!
I was there for Melt! festival in 2007 which takes place every year in summer. The festival's really worth a trip - you'll meet lots of people from many different countries. I even met some guys from Australia last year!
