Radebeul has become famous in Germany mainly because of Karl May. He was a very successful author and his stories about the Indian Winnetou and his blood brother Old Shatterhand are legendary in Germany. They were also made into films in the 1960s with Pierre Brice and Lex Barker.
If you are interested in more than just Indians and Cowboys, you won't be disappointed: in recent history Radebeul has gained its reputation in viticulture. It's close to Dresden, that combines history with the buzz of a modern city, as well as Saxon Switzerland, which is perfect for days out hiking, climbing, cycling and much more.
