Ghana Climate

Ghana has a tropical climate as it is only a few degrees north of the equator.  The weather is influenced by moist air from the sea in the south and the dry African continental air masses from the north.  It is hot and humid in the southwest but drier in the north.  Annual mean temperature is in the high 20s, at up to 29°C.

The highlands have a cooler temperature, but not that much cooler, as they are not that high above sea level.

Rain is abundant in the country, with the southwest receiving over 210 cm a year and about 100 cm in the north.
