Many Greeks stop in this place which used to be a resort, but is now for old people mainly, to savour 'loukoumades'. Having said this, I was once poisoned by the loukoumades eaten here and have never tried these sweet, honey-combed dumplings since. The place is ok, by the sea, and has a few ok eateries for more substantial food as well. A good first break out of Athens as you drive north to stretch your legs, but nothing more. The translation of the name of the place is English is 'burnt dry weed' but also (if you are imaginativ) 'burnt moron'...a family joke, as the word 'vourlo' is a 'moron' in Greek slang.
