Crete Island Transportation

Rethymnon is a very beautiful town. I went there by a local bus from Iraklion - the public transport in Crete is very convenient (comfortable buses with conditioners). Of course it is a little bit scary to be in a bus that is going through all the serpantines at high speed, but I believe the drivers are quite experienced :) In Rethymnon it is amazing to take a walk in the older part of town and to explore all the narrow streets. Also there is a nice park near to the bus station if it's very hot and you want to find a shadow to hide from the heat. The food is good there, especially the goods of the sea.

Chania is a very nice city, full of tourists during summer! exchange money - there are many places in the centre where you can do that but it's better to use atms there are many sightseeing attraction whole over the crete but in this city as well, many monuments, parks, lighthause and old harbour general impression is good! nightlife - many clubs, some open just during winter time cause they are rther for greeks, some open only in summer cause they are for turists.. generally you can have fun there! a lot of good restaurants, taverns and food places with my favourite souvlaki! :D good transport with buses, taxis or even horses :P

An absolute must if you are in Crete ... more than any other sight there ... this is the seat of Europe's presumably oldest civilisation, the Minoan civilisation, whose ruins are to be found in Knosos ... take a guide at the gate or join a group for a shared guide... they are well worth it for there is a lot to be explained inside ... marvel at the advanced planning back then and the odd item still there ... easily reached by cab or coach from Heraklion...

Centre point of Crete for most...its got a lovely sea-side life with lovely eats and drinks to be had while watching the water in front of you... good base to make the trip to Knossos, the highlight sight of Crete for me with its Minoan civilisation history...
