People in Cyclades & Dodecanese
Rodos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
We stayed in Ialyssos a small town next to Rhodos. The hotel was a 4*, but in reality only 3* and the food only 2*. Who is complaining? First day we rented a car and made a quick tour of the island. They have some castles in ruins and of course the acropolis which is impressive. The villages are beautiful and the food in taverns good. It was an entire day drive to see the entire coast. Not more then 250 km but with a lot of places to stop. They have a small city for partying. It was interesting to see the perspective that the Greeks have on tourists. For most tourists the people from any shop take out a bottle of ouzo and start smiling. The next 2 days I was only lying in the sun, watching the windsurfers. I think I will try that sport too sometime. The rest of the group who where travel agents in info-trip had an infernal hotels visitation while I was sitting next to the pool with Louis Armstrong’s “Sittin` in the sun” in my mind. Then there were 3 days of organized trips. First was by boat to Lindos, a city on the coast. A city starting with a on the top of the hill and ending through many narrow streets, filled with souvenirs shops and taverns, in the sea. Hot days. Almost 37-38 Celsius. Second was in Butterfly Valley where in the summer thousands of butterflies gather. Very beautiful view. And all the churches are small and decent, like real praying places. The last was in the city of Rhodos We had a good guide, a very funny old man. The old town is a regular castle built by the Saint John Knights. It is quite a view. The poor people from Rhodos still live in one half of the castle in houses that are 300 years old or more. In the last day we rented a car again and went directly south. At the lowest point of the island there is a beach that in the evening is covered by the waters of both Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea. In the day is full of people that practice windsurfing and parasailing. The view of one sea meeting another with two different colors of water it is spectacular.

Oia, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
The Oia Youth Hostel is an excellent place to meet new people. It's a bit more out of the way than the livelier places in Fira, so it's not for the party crowd, but solo travellers may find some new friends while having free breakfast on the patio. No A/C, although enough of a draft if you open the windows at night, so remember the bug spray.

Mykonos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
I absoulutely love this Greek cosmopolitan island. The local food, beaches and the amazing partying and clubbing all night long!! The gorgeous blue seas and amazing jewellery shops around the narrow blue and white painted alleyways. Althought there is only one negative side and thats just the fact thats its over-priced!! Some shops can be a bit of a rip off and really expensive but you will sure have a great oppurtunity for searching the thing you're after with all the amazing varieties. Still, an amazing island!! Also used to be a hippie island in the 70's so its famous for its open gay culture and friendly people. =]

Karpathos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
Culturel place: Traces of human life that have been found come from the end of Neolithic Era (4.000-3.000 BC.). The first habitants of the island came from Asia Minor and were relatives with pre-Hellenic people who lived in Crete and other Greek islands (Kares etc.).

Patmos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
During at night, Chora, looks and sounds like a ghost town. But if you pay attention, you will listen voices, music and laughter. Many bars have yards inside and not in the street.

Rodos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
There is a great museum there where you can see King Midas' gold ring. There is alot of artifacts to see there. Don't get caught taking pictures or you will get scolded like I did. In the old town there are shops everywhere. You will find trinkets, bottle openers, lighters and lots of other items with peinises as the theme. this must be special to this island because I didn't see it at most other islands. And guess what, they come in small, medium, large and x-large Haha. Perhaps it has something to do with a God or something they used to worship, maybe still do:)

Rodos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
Rodos is a really windy island, another name for it is The windy island. Take with you something to protect you against wind and try wind or kite surfing at the southern side of the island.

Kos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
Great place to chill out and just relax. Good place for couples that want to spent some romantic hours on the beach and in nice restaurants. For those looking for nightlife, their are plenty of bars and the streets are always crowded. So theirs pretty much going on. The most exclusive club is the fashion club. Just don`t expect too much of the nightlife, its good, but its not as wild as for example in Spain.  Its great for juveniles up to max. 18 and of-course for families and couples. For getting around the Island, rent a bike. A map can come in pretty handy, although you can`t really get lost, cause the Island is tiny, and theirs not a lot of roads. Just be careful in the town of Kos, traffic is pretty chaotic.
If you are looking for some peace, and you want to have a nice romantic evening, take a ride to Tingaki Beach, which is only about 20 minutes from the town of Kos away. The beach is way less crowded, and much nicer than the one in Kos.  Their lots of nice bars and restaurants, and comes pretty much alive at night, although in a very relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes they light up candles at the beach.... there you have your romantic evening on the beach ;)

Food in Cyclades & Dodecanese
Mykonos, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece
On the beach as you get to the shops you will find Pedro, the pelican. He is real and he is alive. If you bother him too much he will attempt to peck at you. The men sit at sunset on blue benches and talk amongst themselves as tourists litter by. there are lots of cats if you like them and lots of tourists.
