second largest city in Greece. vibrant city with nice night life and coffee culture. it used to be one of the most important cities of the byzantine empire.A lot of monuments from that era still exist. worthwhile the visit. easy access to other surrounding areas (e.g. halkidiki, towns of northern greece, balkan countries) some monuments to see: lefkos pirgos, kastra for fun: ladadika area, plateia navarinou, kalamaria, renovated area after the central port

Thessaloniki is a great city to visit. It's very rich in culture history and tradition. Food is exceptional and fairly cheap in comparison to other European cities. Every restaurant accepts credit card and the waiters are always friendly to the Americans. Hotel accomodations are great as well. A three start hotel is equal to our Marriott. Rooms are very spacious and very clean. Thessaloniki has numerous historical sites that are located throughout the city. The old city wall circle the entire city. If you like to walk, that the best way to spend your day. Just bring a pair of comfortable shoes and go explore. Their are over a dozen of beautiful churches and monastaries that can give you an idea how the city operated during Byzantine Time. Also make sure to visit the Old Watch Tower. Transportation is great, taxi is cheap and buses run all the time; however, walking is my recomendation that way you can connect with people and culture.

You can find great food in Thessaloniki. It's a mix of Mediterranean and Asia Minor food culture.

go on the 9th ( the 9th floor of the 5* hotel Macedonia Palace). Great view over the city and good music.

Get on the boat to the island where some guy was killed. Eat fish there

Perfect spot if you are into vacation, seeing interesting places around the island, sunbathing on the perfect beaches with golden and silver sand.
The island is small, so renting a bike is a perfect way to cruise the roads and see the famous sights on this island.
For those into hiking, there are numerous paths through the hills, leading to the beautiful views, that would fulfill your needs.
Must see places, among others:
Makryammos, Aliki, Theologos, The Monastery of Archangelos Michail...

Makryammos is a resort beach with bungalows amidst pine forest. Grains of silver sand are so perfect, almost as small as dust.
Simply said - perfect.
Downside is that you will have to take some transportation from Limenas, or to rent a bike, cause it is good half an hour walk away.

Lots of mountain and natural beauties to discover. Trekking, Biking, parachuting. In summertime a lot of traditional events. Classic for the place are the weddings.

In Paralia u have much discos, cafes, restaurants, hotels and shops. U can go on trip in woter-land, Athenas -acropol,meteory...

Don't be fooled by the gypsies in this city...they are more crafty here than other places and it's easy to get duped...

what a silly thing to say..gipsys are everywhere all around the world (that's why they called GIPSYS) and no crafty than anywhere else..shame on you..you must be complitely fool to be duped by any person no more than a gipsy..you are such a racist...
