Greenland Natural Environment

One of the most off the track places that I wisited. If you expect museums, restorants, shops and monuments you are up to big disappointment. What you will se here is down to earth, no fuss very local life with one restaurant/bar/ 'inn place' (easy to recognize by the car sticking out of the first floor wall – very original). One tip for all of the fellow vegetarians do not even bother to find something to eat around here since everything consist of something that used to either walk or swim. Even during the summer weather is cold but bareble. Would definetly recomend to visit if for nothing else but to see 'diferent kind of life'.

Great helicopter ride from Kulusuk to Ammassalik - when we left for the airport there was a massive wind storm - the helicopter was blowing to 90 degree angles perpendicular to the ocean below and the cliff next to us in succession - with four people stuffed against the glass in the back seat I just sat back and assumed it was like a roller coaster ride and the pilot being 60 must have known what he was doing to be alive having dealt with those Greenlandic weather conditions many times in the past - then it was fun!

Ilulissat is one of the most enchanting and incredibly beautiful places I've ever seen till now!! It represents one of the most wonderful and most beyond words experiences of my life. One you visit Ilulissat you shall have a boat trip through the huge icebergs floating at the estuary of the immense glacier river, which moves 30m per day!! Than you shall have long walks through the city and go up on the mountain where you can observe the entire glacier and icebers...such breathtaking view!!! The inhabitants are very friendly and extremely nice people, ready to smile and to talk. Definitively an unique and very special place. You should be well equipped with warm clothing and hiking shoes. It is perfectly normal if it rains or snows, it is authentic if it is foggy, so do not complain about harsh weather conditions!!!
