I arrived Kangigdlermiut 18th of June 2007 in kayak on my way from Nuuk to Paamiut. Ita a remoted village which nowadays consists of some disorted traditional greenlandic turfhuts, now ruined, but fascinating to watch and dwell about. There is an old church yard which over years has become overgrown with grasses. The remainings include two "modern" huntinghuts, by which you enter from a small natural bay (dept 1,5 m.). There has probably been a major population in earlier times, and there is a nice view over the area, i saw a whale and a seal. The rocks in front of the turfhuta a covered with moses, due to the working with seals/fleshes in previous times, these mosses are the witness of this, growing on old slaghtering spots, fascinating too. The huts are free to enter for hunters and sleep-over for far out travellers as my self. I think one of them belongs to the local school in Qeqertarsuatsiaat (Fiskenæsset in danish). There are beside beds some stoves in the huts, you should bring your petrolium (not diesel) if you wanna have them work. I was recommended the place by Karl Anders Lorentzen in Qeqattarsuatsiaat (red. died in january 2009), and it is a very friendly spot. There is a great view towards Ravns Storø, and from the top of the hill you can overview the Davis Strait. SouthEast of the remoted village, alone on the hillside, cstand 4 crusifiks of modern origin, they may tell a story about a nearby shipswreck.
