Located in a horseshoe-shaped harbour on the southwestern side of Grenada, St George's is the capital and largest city. St George's was first built by the French in 1650. Today , it is a popular Caribbean tourist destination and a port of call for cruise ships. Popular destinations to visit in Saint George's include Fort George, which was built in 1705 and the Roman Catholic Cathedral that was built in 1818.
