Deshaies is a village located along the water on the northwest side of Basse-Terre. It is known for its harbourside restaurants which have some of the best food in Guadeloupe. As well, due to its sheltered bay, it is a popular place for yachts to stop and enjoy the food and scenery.Grande Anse is a fine beach that is just north of Deshaies. Despite being one of the best beaches in Guadeloupe, it is not heavily developed and is often not too crowded.

002Our preferred accomodation, during our recent 2-week vacation in the French carabeans was the Bungalow Piton in Deshaies. Cumfortable bungalows, in wood, common area, rooms, kitchenette, hamac and visit of a kind little frog!
