Guadeloupe What to Expect

Guadeloupe Health
  • Don't stay under the Manchineel tree as it has mildly poisonous sap
  • Don't eat any fish you catch without verifying with locals as some may be poisonous
  • Scolopendra ( a type of shelled millipede ) stings like a scorpion
  • Some mosquitoes may transmit the Dengue virus.  Use mosquito repellent and sleep under nets at night

Ce jour là je portais secours humanitaire aux guadeloupéens aprés le cyclone Hugo qui avait tout dévasté. Je m étais dit que j'y reviendrai finalement les mentalités ont changé.

Traveling with Children in Guadeloupe

FISH!
I'm just saying.. I've never been a big fan of fish, but after visiting Guadeloupe.. Fish has upgraded. Grilled fish. I want fish. Your kids will eat fish. Not pizza (the cheese tastes kinda fishy..), not burgers (or, well, they do have McDonald's..) - but fish! Seriously.

Gay/Lesbian Travelers in Guadeloupe
Marigot, Guadeloupe
When in Marigot, make sure you take a walk up to the fort for fantastic views of the harbour. Down by the harbour there is a bright and lively market. Remember that this part of St, Marten is French and takes the euro

It is the best place to stay as it has everything you would need for a great holiday. Great food from the fancy to the best Lolos.(the local bbq's). Harmony night every Tuesday where they close down main street and have a party and show off the local talent and wares. And best of all is the people!

Deshaies, Guadeloupe
Our preferred accomodation, during our recent 2-week vacation in the French carabeans was the Bungalow Piton in Deshaies. Cumfortable bungalows, in wood, common area, rooms, kitchenette, hamac and visit of a kind little frog!
