Guatemala Climate

The country is hot and humid in the low lying areas in the north (Peten) and along the Pacific coast in the southwest, with March and April being the hottest.

The highlands and mountainous regions, which make up over half of the country, have a temperate climate.

May to November is the rainy season with rains mostly from the afternoon onwards, but rain can come during other months as well.  The rainy season makes travel more difficult.  Apart from rain, Guatemala is subject to hurricanes and tropical storms,

The best time to visit the country is during the dryer months of November to April.
