Monterrico is very pricy for Guatemala. For a fun friendly place to stay thas resonably prices johnnys is the best option. each area of rooms has a pool as the beach is a bit dodgy for lesurely swimming. For surfing ask the locals, if you look like a gimp they wont tell you where the river mouth is but its a 30min car ride and 3 min boat ride to an alright rivermouth break. be sure to get the tides right, else your surfing in everyones meals from the past week. enjoy.
