Travel Tips from people who've been to Quetzaltenango
Xela has some great places to learn Spanish. A friend and I studied for a week at the Juan Sisay Spanish School, it was a great all-round experience: great one-on-one teaching, awesome group activities and alot of fun (and we even learned Spanish!!!). We stayed with a local family which was very neat, and added to the experience. It was very affordable and worth it, and definitly recommended.
What to see in Quetzaltenango?
- the yellow church in San Andres Xecul
- the hot springs in Las Fuentes Georginas
- hikes to the volcanoe Santa Maria, Laguna de Chicabal and Tajumulco (the higest in Central America, 4250m)
- the market in San Francisco Del Alto on Friday
Schöne Gegend im Hochland Guatemalas. In Quetzaltenango (auch Xela genannt, ausgesprochen "Schela") kann man gut eine Spanischschule besuchen. Ebenso hat es viele Vulkane, die man bewandern kann.
