Guinea is a scenically varied country in West Africa containing many natural highlights. The Fouta Djalon highlands are a spectacular sight with dramatic sheer cliffs on the many plateaus and countless waterfalls. You can also explore the jungle valleys in between the cliffs. The Chutes de Kinkon are considered to be perhaps the best waterfall in the region. Physically active travelers can climb or hike the peaks in the highlands, while less active ones can ride around and admire the scenery. As a contrast, the great plains (Haute Guinee) expand out over a massive area, with seemingly endless grasslands and thorn trees. For sightings of wild animals one can visit the Guinee forestiere in the Southeast . This forested area contains elephants, hippos, and leopards as well as many other animals. For non-nature sights, you can go to Gueckedou for the Wednesday market, one of the largest in West Africa.
