Conakry is the capital and largest city of Guinea.  It was once colonial France's major West African ports.  The main places to visit include the Soumba waterfalls, which is located about 2 hours drive from the city, the Guinea National Museum, the markets, the Conakry Grand Mosque, and the Guinea Palais du Peuple.

Travel Tips from people who've been to Conakry

Be very careful taking pictures here, people are paranoid. Make sure you are covered or are indoors before that camera comes out... Otherwise the place is ok and feels safe, at least around the centre.

Big, dirty, impoverished!  What isn't there to love about Conakry?  The beaches are foul; swimming may result in bacterial infections.
