  075My impression of Kihei, and I have been there many times, is that it's a big city, with all the big city hassles, by the Ocean. The traffic is horrible, and of course, it's always packed and busy. There are a few beaches that are quite lovely, but again, very busy. The reefs have been pretty used up over the years and are not what they were even 20 years ago. I would save my money and go to the Bahamas instead. Good tip? (0)  0124Kihei on Maui is a slower paced Hawaiian tourist area. The beach is an ok place to surf. I would recommend paddle boarding. Go to the crater to snorkel. A catamaran that runs from the Prince hotel is a great trip for snorkeling. Take the early trip with the breakfast. Good tip? (0)  005If you want to learn to surf, this is the place to do it, but don't expect exciting waves. Those only hit the north shore – which will beat you to a pulp if you don't know what you're doing.
