On July 4th for the past 50 plus years this has been the home of the Makawao Rodeo, one of the largest rodeos in Hawaii.  The small cowboy (paniolo) town is off the beaten path and filled with a western feel.  Stop by one of the mexican restaurants and you may still find horses tied to the hitchen' rack or trees out front as the paniolos grab a bite to eat.
