Travel Tips from people who've been to Honolulu
the cheesecake factory for dinner, as well as migillicudy mooses' for breakfast is definately a must! Good tip? (+1) Lived in Honolulu for a few years after college. Absolutely beautiful weather every day, year round. Despite being surrounded by water it is rarely humid. Nice dry weather. If you love seafood try Todai's on Ala Moana Blvd. It's all you can eat sushi. Love it! Try some other local favs such as lomi salmon and lau lau. Ask for the Kaimaaina (local) price. If you're visiting you must stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Nice resort with shops and restaurants, and right on the beach. You don't ever have to leave but you should since the island has so much to see and do. Tip: Waves on the south shore i.e. Waikiki, Diamond Head area, are weaker. If you love to surf better head on to the north shore i.e. Waimea Bay. Mahalo! Good tip? (0) waikiki is just a big city with a beach. not even a nice beach, too much broken coral washed up on shore, really have to watch where ur walking or u'll cut ur foot. too many tall buildings lining the beach ... its all shade after a certain hour. if ur going to waikiki, i recommend getting outta the city everyday that u can and seeing real hawaii. get a 4-day bus pass .. its only $20 and u can ride as much as u want for those 4 days. some good things to see: Nu'uanu Pali Lookout, Ka'a'awa Valley (u can take a movie set your in a jeep), Waimea Falls. also, be sure to go to the north shore if u are on the island in winter ... 20-30ft waves are rolling in and u can watch the crazy surfers! Good tip? (0)
