My parent's live in Kaneohe. At the base of the Ko'olaus. It's right out of a fantasy novel and it always feels like home. Down the street is Windward Mall and it always looks run down to me. Maybe 'cause it's too quiet. I don't know. Across from there you have Long's Drugs, Korean BBQ, Foodland, Ross, etc. Lots of regular stores mixed in with mom-and-pop shops. Mostly the food the places, not too much retail. Not too far from Kaneohe is Kailua where we go to get healthly, organic stuff and to go to the beach. Kaneohe is quiet. It's nice. Maybe because it's always raining so everything seems so fresh. One of the nice things about Kanoehe is that you can go on the Pali and get to town quickly (or catch H1 I think)...within 15 minutes (I don't know about traffic though...maybe it's worse now). Anyway, it's a nice place to live in my opinion. You have the green scene like Manoa, but not as costly.
