Travel Tips from people who've been to Waikīkī
Diamond Head is a must for any surfer... great reef break with a channel that makes paddling out quite convenient without panicking. Whatch out for giant seals that sometimes can be mistaken for tree trunks lying at the beach...
Waikiki Waves are smaller and usually veery crowded. much fun though if you want to meet other people in the water.
A little further along Waikiki Beach is a bigger break where I happened to surf amongst giant turtles! It's a local's spot, so don't be too cocky... Good tip? (0) Everyone knows about Waikiki. Keep a close eye on your valuables or they will be gone. There are those who make a living down there on being able to steal other people's things. Good tip? (0) Pack lightly. Bring T-shirts and shorts. Most hotels have a laundry area. As for activities there is a lot of water sports on the island. There is a local mall on Ala Moana Blvd. Good tip?
