Copan Ruinas or the Copan Ruins are a star Mayan attraction not just in Honduras but, along with Tikal, Chichen Itza and Palenque, in the whole of Central America.... if Tikal is about size and Chichen Itza about effect, Copan is about detail.... the elaborate sculpture and carvings are an eye-opener if you are into that sort of stuff... the trip itself is easily organised from Copan town... don't miss ...

this place is amazing!!! The mayan ruins are brilliant.  the tour guides speak like 5-7 languages a piece. i highly recommend getting a tour guide over exploring on your own.  They have a depth of knowledge.  Hotel - Stay at the Hacienda at the top of the mountain in the Town of Copan!  It is run on total solar power and is cozy and quiet.
